Standing on the entrance of Tashilhunpo, tourists could see the grand buildings with golden roofs and white walls. The golden represented the holy and grave feeling. While, the white color represented the sincerity and purity! Most of the impressive will be the giant statue of Maitreya Buddha. Being decorated with golden, copper, pearl and many other precious stones, this statue has lured loads of tourist for worshipping and praying.

As one of the oldest and largest building in Tashilhunpo Monastery, Kelsang Temple will be a must-see spot in the tourists coming here. As a colossal compound, this temple conveyed unique folk culture to the local residence. Tour here, the Main Chanting Hall will be the first to lure tourists. It is holy place where the lamas learnt the sutras and listen to the Panchen Lama sermon. There is a high statue located on the back end of this hall, measuring 5 meters high. It is said that there is a part of the Sakyamuni relic was placed in it. Tashilhunpo Monastery also treasures characteristic wall paintings.

If you are very interested in this monastery, the ideal time coming here is during the important festivals such as the Tibetan New Year and Dancing Deity Festival, because during this period, it is free to enter into. Taking pictures is the ideal of every tourist. If you want to take pictures, you should ask the local lamas in advance. Respect their life style.
