Shanghai Night Guide for Tourists by Mira Daley

February26

Based on my experience travel Shanghai last time after Hong Kong last time, here I would like to share best night place to visit. Shanghai is a vibrant city which will shows its best night view to travelers who give their best effort to find it. For they who do not have any ideas what to do in Shanghai at night, then this blog could be help.

First that cannot be missed is Huangpu River cruise. Huangpu River cruise is the best way to get full view of Shanghai night scenes. It is also the ideal way for visitors to know history and development of Shanghai. Huangpu River goes through the downtown Shanghai and divides Shanghai into Pudong and Puxi, is also very important part in tourism. The west side represented by the Bund is the classical zone of old Shanghai, and the east side embodied with the towering skyscrapers is the fashion zone of modern Shanghai. The past, today and future of Shanghai can be seen all in here.

Yu GardenCity God Temple at Night

Second favorite of mine is explore Yu Garden and City God Temple, surrounded by these tall ancient-looking well preserved area where you are bombarded with temples, pavilions, halls, hanging lanterns. There’s also a famous xiao long bao (Shanghai steamed soup dumpling) restaurant here. The complex is not popular attraction in the day but also attractive when the night comes. Personally for me, I rather visit this complex at night, for enjoy its atmosphere.

XintiandiXintiandi, A Center of Entertainment in Town

The third favorite of mine is Xintiandi, interesting spot in Shanghai to hang out and enjoy the night. Located in the narrow alleyways, the complex filled with numerous entertainment areas, such as cafes, bars, restaurants, souvenirs shops, etc. This area is definitely prominent for foreigners and mostly ex-pats. It is done up really nicely, clean, trendy, different from typical China and also lots of great spots for photography.

Then at last but not least, come to Nanjing Road (same iconic as The Bund) at night with bright lights along the street. Since this is a pedestrian street so no cars are allowed on this street and everywhere you turn there is some sort of shopping. Always crowded all hours of the day, but at night visitors surely enjoy different atmosphere. Once you have experienced it all yourself, you will come to understand why Shanghai is dubbed the city with the most colorful nightlife in China.

Short Break to the Summer Palace in Winter by Ronny Steward

February23

What is like a trip to Beijing without visit Great Wall right? So, everybody should visit Great Wall while travelling the capital right. But, how about Summer Palace? This royal garden palace is the most favorite place we did visit among all historical sites in town. So, why I love Summer Palace architecture, layout, history and most of all its stunning sceneries? It might with some experience I did experience there are the reason of all.

Summer PalaceOne Spot at Summer Palace

The Summer Palace is A Must do, this garden is huge! So if you want to explore all interesting spots inside make sure to be ready to spend a couple of hours wandering about. Then visit Summer Palace when winter was interesting though. Also during the winter when the Kunming lake freezes over you have the option to go on these miniature sled looking things – it was great fun!

Summer Palace used to be the place where the olden Chinese Qing dynasty emperor spends his summer time, but nowadays it has become a major tourist attraction in Beijing. Finding myself travel Beijing during winter when temperatures below 7 degree celcius, I thought there would be fewer visitors but it seems that I was wrong.

Summer PalaceStrolling around Frozen Kunming Lake

There have other few tour groups wandering around with their tour guides same like us. At one area there was also a group of people doing tai-chi, a type of Chinese internal martial arts which is normally practices for health benefits. We walked around the interesting area for about half day accompanied by tour guide. She explained everything she knew about the royal garden to us. And that made our experience a bit more value, imagine how the condition at past.

2 hours explore the garden didn't cover all the area because it was too large and also with the cold weather and limited time, we rather not too. Overall the view was spectacular and I bet it would more awesome during spring and summer where you could choose to get a boat ride around the lake area and enjoy green lush garden view.

Overall, I like this 1 day Beijing tour, covers everything I want to see in Beijing after Great Wall. Everything as organized and our travel after Hong Kong trip was worth it. Right after Beijing, headed back home, leaved China for this time.

Apart from its stunning mountain scenes and its winding river, travelers also could discover the characteristic ethnic diversity, the colorful local culture and the charming rural leisure around Guilin. Some best places to admire Chinese ethnic minorities nearby are in Sanjiang and Longsheng. Longsheng where the Zhuang and Yao ethnic people have lived there over the centuries has also famous for its rice terraces. As well as in Sanjiang, visitors will have a chance to visit local Miao families, and even taste their traditional food and enjoy local singing and dancing show. 3. A Taste of Traditional Chinese Rural Life
Especially in Guilin, travelers could have a taste of the rural life and take a close -up exploration to local villages. People here still travel the river on low bamboo rafts and locals use trained cormorants to catch fish from Li River. It can be said that average Guilin local people live a quiet rural life, a life that is not without its challenges and poverty-related issues. It is also a life that far from crowded, pollution and traffic that is so often seen in the larger cities including Hong Kong.
