Great Wall has been famous all around the world and regarded as one of the China historical heritages. Located in Hebei, here it is Shanhaiguan Great Wall.

Short Brief about Shanhaiguan Great Wall
Shanhaiguan Great Wall is located in Shanhaiguan District, Qinhuangdao, Hebei. It is one of the major passes of the Great Wall besides Juyongguan Pass and Jiayuguan Pass. In 1961, Shanhaiguan Great Wall which also called Shanhai Pass became a site of China First Class National Cultural Site.

Shanhai Pass which also means "The Pass of Mountain and Sea" is nearly 300 kilometres (190 mi) east of Beijing and linked via the Jingshen Expressway that runs northeastward to Shenyang. Situated at the south of Yanshan Mountains and north of the Bohai Sea, Shanhai Pass got its name due to its position between mountain and sea. This 600-year-old Shanhaiguan Pass was also used as a significant frontier defence at past against outside threat.

Some of the famous highlight along the Wall includes "First Pass Under Heaven" which located in the area between the sea and the mountains at Shanhaiguan. It has also being the place where the Ming dynasty Great Wall began. And another highlight is called "Old Dragon's Head" where the wall itself meets the Pacific Ocean (at the Bohai Sea).

The pass of Shanhaiguan is a square, with a perimeter of around 4 kilometers long. The wall stretches 26 kilometers (16 miles) long. The average height is 12 meters (39 feet), its width over 10 meters (33 feet). The east, south and north sides are surrounded by a deep, wide moat.

Originally all four sides of Shanhaiguan had a gate include Zhendong in the east, Ying'en in the west, Wangyang in the south and Weiyuan in the north. Due to disrepair over the centuries, only Zhendong gate still remains today. Zhendong Gate is the most important gate in Shanhaiguan due to its position, which faces outside the pass.

The scenery around Shanhaiguan Great Wall itself depends with the season. All year long is filled with beautiful views around. Shanhaiguan also has relatively convenient walking path, not too hard to hike it.

Jiankou Great Wall known as one of the great example of the Chinese Wild Great Wall. Recently, it has also become a popular photographic hotspot and hiking destination.

A Short Brief about Jiankou Great Wall
Jiankou which also known as Arrow Nock in English located at Xizhaizi Village, 30 km from Huairou District, and 70 km from Beijing. From Beijing, you could reach Jiankou for about 2 hours. Originally Jiankou Great Wall was built in Tang Dynasty and was restored largely in the Ming Dynasty. It connects to Mutianyu Great Wall in the east and Huanghuacheng Great Wall in the west.

Jiankou Great Wall stretches from "The Ox Horn Edge Wall" in the east to "The Nine-Eye Tower" in the north via "The Beijing Knot" with total length of 9.3 miles. It consists of 28 towers, and the most popular towers include The Nine-Eye Tower, The Beijing Knot and Stairway to the Heaven. 'The Nine-Eye Tower' was an important command post during the ancient wars which also become the place where visitors could enjoy fantastic views around from above. Stairway to Heaven is a precipitous stair whose angle of elevation is 70 to 80 degrees. Zhengbeilou Tower is the right place to appreciate the beauty of sunrise and sunset.

Jiankou Great Wall relatively less crowded in the weekdays. Come to Jiankou when the weather is good and ideal for the hiking activity. Avoid rain or lightening season. In additional, you should watch your step carefully in some of dangerous and quiet steep loose sections along the Wall. Definitely kids and seniors are not recommended here.

How to Get Jiankou Great Wall?
Take Bus No.916 at Dongzhimen, get off at Huairou Fangshan (diagonally opposite Huairou First Hospital). There you can find local buses to Jiankou Great Wall. The buses run between 10:00 and 15:00. Sometimes you get confused and puzzled of find the local buses, so you can negotiate with local taxi drivers with RMB 150-200 for a round trip.

Huanghuacheng Great Wall is located in a village in Jiuduhe, Huairou District, about 65 kilometers (40.39 miles) from Beijing. It has a total 10,800 meters (6711 miles) long that also located a resort where combined with the landscapes of mountains, lakes and the ancient Great Wall around. Huanghuacheng Great Wall is also joins with Mutianyu Great Wall in the east, and Juyongguan Pass and Badaling in the west. From Huanghuacheng Great Wall, you can reach Badaling towards the west in seven days and then Mutianyu to the east in about four days by foot.

Huanghuacheng Great Wall was constructed around 1404 during the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644), began under the supervision of General Cai Kai. In total, Huanghuacheng Great Wall has 6 forts, 6 passes, 12 beacon-towers, and 32 guard towers. Among them, called Yaoziyu Fort which built in the Ming Dynasty about 500 years ago is the best preserved one. Huanghuacheng Great Wall got its name that it means City of Yellow Flowers. Transportation to Huanghuacheng Great Wall
By Bus: Take bus No. 916 at Dongzhimen, get off at Huairou International Conference Center. Then, take the bus from Huairou to Xishuiyu and get off at the last stop.

By Car: Take Badaling Expressway and exit at Chanping Xiguan. Follow signs toward the Ming Tombs then turn right when you reach Changling Town toward Jiuduhe, turn left at the Jiuduhe intersection, and continue to Huanghuazhen intersection then turn left. Once you reach the Y intersection, bear right and continue for a few more kilometres to the Wall.
