Itinerary of China Train Travel - 8 Days Beijing Xian Shanghai Rail Tour

Day 1: Arrival in Beijing
When you arrive at Beijing, our guide will meet you outside the baggage claim area at Beijing Airport and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is on your own to explore the city.

Day 2: Beijing (B, L, D)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Beijing, and visit the Badaling Great Wall and Summer Palace.
- Badaling Great Wall: As its name implies it gives access to every direction. With an elevation of 600 meters it is the most famous and best-preserved section of the Great Wall.
- Summer Palace: the largest and best preserved imperial garden of the Qing Dynasty extant in Beijing, as well as a famous classical imperial garden.
2. After the tour, we will enjoy a delicious Peking Duck in the evening. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Beijing.

Day 3: Beijing (B, L, D)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Beijing, and visit the Tiananmen Square, and Forbidden City.
- Tiananmen Square: the largest public square in the world. It is 880 meters from north to south, and 500 meters from east to west, with a total area of 440,000 square meters and can hold one million people.
- Forbidden City: the largest ancient imperial palaces where 24 emperors, 14 of the Ming and 10 of the Qing, ruled the country from here over a span of nearly 500 years.
2. After that, transfer you to Beijing Railway Station to take train (soft sleeper) to Xian after dinner.

Day 4: Xian (B, L)
1. When you arrive in Xian in the morning, you will meet the tour guide and driver and transfer you to your hotel in Xian.
2. Then, you have a city tour to the Provincial Museum, the Xian Ancient City Wall. Enjoy the Tang Dynasty Dinner Show in the evening.
- Provincial Museum: The Mausoleum of the Western Han Emperor Liu Qi (Hanyangling), it was built in the year 153 AD and covers an area of 20 square kilometers.
- Xian Ancient City Wall: the most complete city wall survived in China as well as one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world.
- Tang Dynasty Dinner Show: a wonderful performance of the ancient music and dance, is a must when you visit Xian.
3. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Xian.

Day 5: Xian - Shanghai (B, L)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Xian, and visit the Terra Cotta Warriors. In the afternoon, visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the Bell Tower.
2. After that, transfer you to Xian Railway Station to take train (soft sleeper) to Shanghai.
- Terra Cotta Warriors: It is a part of the Qin emperor's tomb complex, the Terra Cotta Warriors is the greatest findings in the archeology world.
- Big Wild Goose Pagoda: the symbol of the long history of Xian, and a well-preserved ancient building and holy worshipping shrine for Buddhists.
- Bell Tower: a stately traditional architecture, marks the geographical center of the ancient capital.

Day 6: Shanghai arrival
When you arrive in Shanghai at around 13:00, you will meet the tour guide and driver and transfer you to your hotel in Shanghai. Free at leisure.

Day 7: Shanghai (B, L)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Shanghai, and visit the Shanghai Museum, Yuyuan Garden, Oriental Pearl TV Tower, The Bund and Nanjing Road.
- Shanghai Museum: ranked as China's best museum.
- Yuyuan Garden: is considered one of the most lavish and finest Chinese gardens in the region.
- Oriental Pearl TV Tower: the tallest TV tower in Asia, and the third in the world with a height of 468 meters. It is a symbol of Shanghai.
- The Bund: the picturesque bund with tall building of various towers over the river, looking as a museum of modern world architecture.
- Nanjing Road: Shanghai's most famous thoroughfare for shopping and entertainment.
2. After the day tour, transfer back to your hotel!

Day 8: Departure from Shanghai
Pick you up from your hotel in Shanghai and transfer to the airport, see off!

I spent 8 days exploring Shanghai, Beijing and Xian three large cites of China. Xian left me the deepest impression with ancient atmosphere and magnificent attractions – Terracotta Warriors. Together with my sister, we got close distance to the Qin Emperor burial objects, truly delicate. Especially the face-appearance of these soldiers, different with each, lifelike!

Pleasant train ride throughout iconic cities of China. Not as terrible as I thought. This vacation was totally worth the train ride. It was fun and amazing! I just enjoyed every minute of it! Highly recommended!

Spending 8 days, I explored the happiest holiday of my life. Three large cities gave me different impression and made me get a lot and learn a lot! Xian is truly an amazing city, which stored numerous incomparable historical treasures and pearls. I was completely impressed by the grand appearance of Terracotta Warriors!

We did see lots of impressive historical, cultural and even modern attractions in Beijing, Xian and Shanghai. Excellent tour and value for money. Our visit to Terracotta Army in Xian was the highlight for me. What an ancient tomb, very breathtaking! Should do tour if come to China. I would recommend this tour to my friends.

Wonderful day experience, the tour is a few stops to visit many famous attractions in 3 big cities in China including Beijing, Xian and Shanghai. The whole itinerary went so smoothly and all the experience that I got very worth it! The tour itself covers the interesting and top places that we should go in those 3 cities. Highly recommend this tour to anyone. It was great!
