Itinerary of China Discovery Tour - 15 Days China Tours with Yunnan Guizhou Ethnic Culture Travel

Day 1: Arrival in Beijing
Upon arrive at Beijing, our guide will meet you outside the baggage claim area at Beijing Airport and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is on your own to explore the city.

Day 2: Beijing (B, L)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Beijing, and transfer to visit the Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven.
- Tiananmen Square: the largest public square in the world. It is 880 meters from north to south, and 500 meters from east to west, with a total area of 440,000 square meters and can hold one million people.
- Forbidden City: the largest ancient imperial palaces where 24 emperors, 14 of the Ming and 10 of the Qing, ruled the country from here over a span of nearly 500 years.
- Temple of Heaven: The temple was the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshipped heaven and prayed for good harvests.
2. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Beijing.

Day 3: Beijing (B, L)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Beijing, and transfer to visit the Badaling Great Wall. To avoid having lunch at shopping site restaurants, you will be driven to have Sichuan food at a local popular restaurant.
- Badaling Great Wall: As its name implies it gives access to every direction. With an elevation of 600 meters it is the most famous and best-preserved section of the Great Wall.
2. Then move on to visit the Sacred Way, the Ming Tomb, the Bird's Nest (Olympic National Stadium) in the afternoon.
- Ming Tombs: it is the largest clusters of imperial cemeteries in China. They are mausoleums of thirteen emperors of the Ming Dynasty.
- Sacred Road: Which means the road leading to heaven is lined with 18 pairs of stone human figures and animals, they are important decorations of the mausoleum.
3. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Beijing.

Day 4: Beijing - Kunming (B, L)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Beijing, and transfer to visit the Summer Palace.
- Summer Palace: the largest and best preserved imperial garden of the Qing Dynasty extant in Beijing, as well as a famous classical imperial garden.
2. After that, transfer you to Beijing airport to take a flight to Kunming and transfer to the hotel.

Day 5: Kunming - Lijiang (B, L)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Kunming, and transfer you to Kunming airport to take a morning flight to Lijiang and transfer to the hotel.
2. Then move on to visit Baisha Village and a local Naxi family, Baisha Murals, the Former Residence of Rock Joseph in Yuhu Village and the Square Street of Lijiang Old Town. Enjoy the Naxi Ancient Music and Dance Performance at Dongba Palace in the evening.
- Lijiang Old Town: Lijiang Old Town was built about 800 years ago during the Southern Song Dynasty. Owing to its unique ethnic culture and urban layout, this old town consists of 3 parts, Dayan, Shuhe and Baisha. Lijiang Old Town listed to be one of World Cultural Heritage in 1997.
3. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Lijiang.

Day 6: Lijiang (B)
You have a free day, to explore the ancient town and pay a short visit to a Local Family of Naxi Minority by yourselves.

Day 7: Lijiang - Kunming - Lunan (B, L)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Lijiang, and transfer to take a morning flight back to Kunming.
2. Then continue to transfer to visit the Stone Forest at Lunan and stay overnight at the hotel.
- Stone Forest: is known as the First Wonder of the World ever since the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD) for its natural landscape.

Day 8: Lunan - Shizong - Xingyi (B, L)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Lunan, and drive to Xingyi via Shizong.
- Xingyi: is the southwest gate of entering Guizhou province. En route, visit the Local Tobacco Farm and a Local Country Market if time is proper.
2. Upon arrival in Xingyi, visit the Local Folk Museum of the Wedding Rituals. Stay overnight at the local hotel.

Day 9: Xingyi (B, L)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Xingyi, and transfer to visit the Forest of Thousands of Mountain Peaks, the Maling Gorge and the Heaven-star Gallery which takes 2 hours' hiking.
2. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Xingyi.

Day 10: Xingyi - Huangguoshu Waterfall (B, L)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Xingyi, and drive to Huangguoshu. En route, explore Zuoqi Black Miao Village to discover traditional costume of women with big earring, black turban and black cotton jacket.
2. Then move on to visit the Buyi People Village to see their traditional way of spinning and weaving. Stay overnight at the local hotel.

Day 11: Huangguoshu Waterfall - Guiyang (B, L)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Huangguoshu, and transfer to visit the largest waterfall in Asia - Huangguoshu Waterfall.
- Huangguoshu Waterfall: is the largest waterfall in Asia. Seventy-four meters (243 feet) high and eighty-one meters (266 feet) wide, it is a scenic marvel.
2. Upon arrival in Guiyang, visit the Jiaxiu Pavilion and the Qingyan Old Town. Stay overnight at the hotel.
- Jiaxiu Pavilion: it is a landmark of Guiyang. It is originally built in 1598 in the Ming times. The tower is magnificent and unique, and of great culture significance in Guiyang.

Day 12: Guiyang - Kaili (B, L)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Guiyang, and drive to Kaili and check in at the local best hotel.
2. Visit a Long-skirt Miao Village. You will experience daily life of the Miao people by visiting the Local Families. Meanwhile, you can appreciate the typical architecture of Miao people - Wooden Stilt House.
3. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Kaili.

Day 13: Kaili - Guiyang - Shanghai (B, L)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Kaili, and transfer to visit the traditional way of paper-making and a Long-skirt Miao Village.
2. After that, transfer back to Guiyang and take a flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel.

Day 14: Shanghai (B, L, D)
1. Pick you up from your Hotel in Shanghai, and transfer to visit the Shanghai Museum and the Yuyuan Garden.
- Shanghai Museum: ranked as the best museum in China.
- Yuyuan Garden: is considered one of the most lavish and finest Chinese gardens in the region.
2. After lunch, transfer you to the Bund area and Nanjing Road. Tonight an a la carte farewell dinner is served at Central Hotel, whose restaurant Wang Bao He has a history of around 260 years and is the best place to serve Shanghai Cuisine. The memorable dinner will be followed by the Portman Acrobatic Show at the Shanghai Centre Theatre.
- The Bund: the picturesque bund with tall building of various towers over the river, looking as a museum of modern world architecture.
- Nanjing Road: the most famous thoroughfare in Shanghai for shopping and entertainment.
3. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Shanghai.

Day 15: Departure from Shanghai (B)
Pick you up from your hotel in Shanghai and transfer you to Shanghai airports and see off.

Beijing started my 15 days tour holiday and Shanghai end it! On the whole journey, I experienced a lot including ancient buildings, imperial wonders, minority folk culture, natural sceneries and modern tastes, etc. Yunnan is a wonderful place for me with cozy temperature and dazzling natural scenic spots. Stone Forests is truly a wonder decorating this holy land with lifelike appearance and sets of nature works!

Guide was very helpful and spoke fluent English. Very informative throughout the whole journey, pleasure to chat with. We had a small private tour of 5 people all up so it made it that much better. What an awesome tour! We did see many of China famous sites including Great Wall, Summer Palace, Lijiang Old Town, Stone Forest, Huangguoshu Waterfall, The Bund, Yuyuan Garden etc. More than that, not only we could see the beautiful modern city in Shanghai, we also able to learn a lot about Chinese ethnic minority cultures and lifestyles. Impressive and priceless experience!
