Located in the northwestern Hunan Province, Wulingyuan Scenic Area has more than 3,000 narrow sandstone pillars and peaks, many over 200 meters high. China Danxia or Danxia landform of China is the general name of the unique type of landscapes, Danxia landform, formed from red sandstone and characterized by steep cliffs. According to experts, orogenic movement could still continue on in the Danxia Mountain area, with an average rise of 0.87 meter every 10,000 years over the last 500,000 years. The ancient country side which located in Kaiping City, Guangdong Province has famed for its outstanding houses and villages buildings. The first towers were built during the early Qing Dynasty with more than another three thousand building of these structures built at that time. Today, Kaiping display a complex representing 1,833 diaolou which combined Chinese and Western style with various sized and forms.
Ruishi Diaolou is the famous diaolou in Kaiping which constructed in 1921. The building features a Byzantine style roof and a Roman dome and known as the highest diaolou in Kaiping. As one of the historical and cultural relics, Kaiping Diaolou and Villages has been listed as one of the World Heritage Sites in 2007.
