More Details about the Tide
On June 5, 2012 - the lunar calendar, with the eclipse effect to usher in a new round of flood tide period, the Qian Tang River Tide broke out again. The annual Lunar New Year, the Qianjiang tidal waves reach its maximum. The tide comes, sounds like thunder, topple the mountains and overturn the seas, very spectacular. The Qiantang Tide can be dated back to the Northern Song Dynasty as recorded by poet Su Dongpo. 55 kilometers away from Hangzhou Bay there is a spot called the big gap which is the perfect place to see the cross tide from the Hangzhou bay. Due to long-term of Sediment deposition, it formed a sandbank in the river. The tidal wave is divided into two parts by Hangzhou bay, namely east tide and the south tide, when the two waves cross the bay and hug again, displaying an overwhelming sight, just like spectacular waterfalls across the river. When the tide comes, the river becomes a world of thundering sprays and foams, making the sight hard to beat. The tidal waves are in different sizes and shapes and at different sites, the waves look different too. The best tide watching site in the city is located in Haining Yanguan Town, the best time to see the tide is the annual Lunar New Year from fifteenth August to eighteenth August.

Overall, the Qiantang Tide is to die for!
