Why Called the Five-color Sea?
Jiuzhai Valley

While it may seem odd to call it a sea as it is nothing but a small lake in the area. However the diverse breathtaking landscapes at Five-color Sea will do justice to its name. Rising 2.472 meters above sea level, 5 meters deep, the Five-color Sea is nestled among mountains and forests. Every year, as autumn comes, the surrounding slopes are drowned in a sea of colors - one of a kind sight to the eyes! With the accumulation of calcium and colorful alga as well as other underwater plants, a wide variety of colorful bulks come into being in the sea - at this time the sea is just like a colorful blanket embroidered with myriad gems and jewelry. Moreover, the lakeside landscapes will be reflected in the water as well, thus turning the lake a colorful sea. What's more, at dusk, the lake will be hued with twilight, glistening with all kinds of colors beyond your imagination.

Best Way to Soak up the Beauty of Five-color Sea:
Jiuzhai Valley

Along the wooded plank-path descending down the slope and the forest, the Five-color Sea is not very far. Skirting around west of the lake, there is a plank-paved path which is a great vintage point for a sweeping view of the colorful sea. Visitors can stop in here for a while to take pictures or just take in the views. Alternatively, continue walking toward north along the path and reach the north shore of the lake, and there is a plank-paved bridge built above the water, which is another spot for sightseeing of the sea. Furthermore, visitors can also ascend to a ring road above the river bank and the scenery of the sea is even more spectacular looking from that point.

Most of all, walk along the road toward southeast and you will come across a huge stone called the Rock of Tiger which boasts as the highest point for the sightseeing of the Five-color Sea. With the autumn colors sprawling all over the place, the area is turned into a wonderland.

All in all, you just can't afford to miss out on the gorgeous Five-color Sea which has become a popular draw for the shutterbugs every year.
