Long Standing History of Jiaxiu Tower
The construction of Jiaxiu Tower was founded on a huge stone in Nanming River in the south of Guiyang City. It was completed during Ming dynasty. In history, Jiaxiu Tower went through a series of ups and downs. And in different times, it had been restored and renamed for many times. According to documents, the tower has been restored for six times, the existent Jiaxiu Tower was founded in 1909. Nowadays, it plays a key role in studying the culture and history of Guiyang. In addition, there is the Cuiwei Garden which is also worth exploring. The garden is a complex modeled after the Ming and Qing styles and consists of Gongnan Pavilion, Cuiwei Pavilion and Longmen Academy. The garden also houses a newly built exhibition hall which has a variety of traditional costumes on display. The costumes all handmade by ethnic groups scattering in Guizhou Province, such as Miao, Dong, Yi, Shui, Gejia, Tujia, Buyi. These gorgeous costumes and dresses as well as traditional embroidery handiworks offer an insight into the ethnic culture and art.
