Lugu Lake is 48.5 square kilometers in area and about 93 meters deep at its deepest point. Many ethnic communities, such as the Yi, Tibetan and the matriarchal Mosuo, live around the lake. People can go canoeing and boating around on the lake. The path around the lake is popular among backpacking hikers.

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain formed by 13 mountains stretches over 50 km from north to south. It is the southernmost glacier in the northern hemisphere. The snow-capped and fog-enveloped peaks look like a jade dragon in the clouds from the Old Town of Lijiang. It is a sanctuary for rare animals and plants.

"Boiling Pot" is instead used to boil food such as eggs and peanuts which are then sold to tourists.
