Temple of ConfuciusThe Temple of Confucius is located inside the south gate of Qufu, it is a group of grand buildings. Confucianism has the most enduring and profound effect over Chinese culture. Summer Palace in Beijing, the Mountain Resort in Chengdu, the Temple of Confucius in Qufu are the 3 largest ancient architectural complexes in China.

The Temple of Confucius was rebuilt during Ming and Qing Dynasty(1368-1911). It is divided into nine courtyard. The main buildings run along a north to south axis, with the attached buildings symmetrically in line. The whole construction includes three halls, one pavilion, one altar, and three ancestral temples. It is consist by 466 rooms and 54 gateways covering an area of 218000 square meters.
