Brief Introduction of Pearl Waterfall
Jiuzhaigou

Located in Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, 0.5 miles away from Huashi Lake, the Pearl Waterfall is nestled upon a gently inclined slope sprawling with bushes and shrubs. The water cascade down into the valley over a series of slopes, while reflected by the sunlight, the water drops splashing on the rocks are kind of like millions of pearls falling down – very marvelous for the eyes. This is how the Pearl Waterfall got its name in the first place. Soaring up 2,433 meters above sea level, about 160 meters in width, the Pearl Waterfall covers an area of 95,000 square miles, shaped like a conch. There is a long-standing legend revolving around the Pearl Waterfall. It is said that there was once a goddess fell in love with a Tibetan young man who gave the goddess a pearl necklace as gift. Later their relationship was found out by the gods and irritated them, so they took the goddess away. While in the middle of the struggling, the necklace was broken and fell down on earth and formed the Pearl Waterfall.

Features of Pearl Waterfall
Jiuzhaigou

The Pearl Waterfall incessantly runs down from the slopes and when it flows through the gently inclined slopes countless pores formed on the Karst rocks got in the way of the water and make the water roll down like millions of shiny pearls. Moreover, when the Pearl Waterfall cascades down into the trenches and holes countless water drops splash all over the place. In addition, there is a plank-paved path spanning over the Pearl Waterfall which makes for a great vintage point for taking in the waterfall. As the water runs through a nearby shoal and is blocked by the shrubs the water is also splattered everywhere. The rushing currents of the water cascade down the cliff into the deep valley in the end, therefore the whole Pearl Waterfall completes its mission. Another highlight at Pearl Waterfall would be the many shoals covered by yellowish mosses which feel very much like sponges while standing on them.

Anyway, you just can't afford to miss out on the Pearl Waterfall if you want to explore the best Jiuzhaigou has to offer!

While it seems fair to say that the Pool of Colors is like a sapphire to what Jiuzhaigou is like a treasure house of gems. Hidden among the thick forest, the Pool of Colors boasts as the most brightest and brilliant pool. One mile from Changhai, the Pool of Colors is nestled in a deep valley beneath the rugged mountain. Covering 5645 square meters, 2995 meters above sea level, the pool stays the same, elegant and glistening, winter or summer. The reason lies in that the supply comes from Changhai which feeds the pool via underground. 6.6 meters deep, the pool is so crystal clear that the grain of the rock lying at the bottom can be seen with naked eyes. All year round, the pool glistens with different colors, a marvel to the eyes.

Jiuzhai Valley

As the prime draw in Jiuzhaigou, the Pool of Colors is home to diverse flora and herbal plants, which tend to show different colors in the water rich in calcium carbonate. Even in the same pool, some area is shining blue, while other areas glisten in yellow or green. Best of all, with the sun way up high and the breeze blowing from the valley, rings upon rings of colorful ripples will unfold before your eyes - really amazing and spectacular! Compared with other pools, the Pool of Colors is the smallest yet the brightest one. Moreover, the reason why the pool is so colorful is because the reflection of the light plays a key in the water. Looking from different angles, the color will be different as well. Furthermore, at the bottom of the pool lie plenty of stalagmites which can also reflect the light - thus making the pool look as colorful as it can be.

To sum it up, the Pool of Colors is no less than a rainbow on earth and definitely worth exploring while traveling in Jiuzhaigou.
