Among many Chinese people, garden has its important part in their life. It begins since long time ago, since the imperial era where gardens become an important resting place for emperors. In China, you will have a chance to enjoy and admire those traditional Chinese gardens design. Here, we make a short list of the famous gardens which has regarded as China 4 big gardens:

No doubt that Summer Palace is the most famous garden in China. It is the best preserved imperial garden and the largest in Qing Dynasty. Covering an area of 290 hectares, the garden has two main parts, Wanshoushan (Longevity Hill) and Kunming Lake. Around the garden, there are a lot of impressive historical relics, divided into three sections - the administrative area, the imperial residential area and the scenic area.
Declared as "a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design", in the center of the garden they built a huge manmade lake where today visitors could rent boat explore the lake. Summer Palace has become one of the famous tourist attractions in Beijing because of its beauty and ancient architectural garden style.

Located in the north of Chengde city, Chengde Mountain Resort was built between 1703 and 1792, took 89 years to be completed. The Mountain Resort usually known as Qing dynasty summer palace, it is the palace where emperors from ancient Qing dynasty spent the summer.
In total, Chengde Mountain Resort covers an area of 5.6 square kilometers and contains huge complex of palaces, administrative, ceremonial buildings, some classical Chinese temples surrounded by gardens and lake combined perfectly into a stunning landscapes. In 1994, it was listed by UNESCO on its list of World Heritage Sites.

Lingering Garden which located in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, is one of the great example of classical Chinese garden style. Because Suzhou has famous for its gardens style, it even has become one part of the historic of the city. Together with other classical gardens in Suzhou, Lingering Garden listed as one of the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
The garden itself divided into four distinctly themed sections includes East, Central, West, and North. Lingering Garden which called Liu Yuan in Chinese acquired the nickname "Liu Yuan" from the owner's surname. Since 1823, the garden was open to public, and became a famed resort.

Humble Administrator Garden is located in Suzhou. It is the best representation of Chinese classical gardens of the Ming Dynasty. The garden consists of three main parts including the central part, the western part and the eastern part. Listed by UNESCO as one of the World Heritage Sites, Humble Administrator Garden landscape combined nature, classical Chinese art and interesting ancient design. Come to the garden, there you will see the masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design with great beauty surround.
