Great Mosque of China first built as early as the 700s AD, but the current complex was laid out during Ming Dynasty. The Great Mosque is laid out like a traditional Chinese temple, with successive courtyards of pavilions and pagodas. In total, it has five courtyards that lead to the prayer hall. Beautifully decorated with Arabic and Chinese calligraphy, Xian Great Mosque definitely becomes worth attractions that visitors should visit when travelling to Xian.

Id Kah Mosque is located in the west side of the Id Kah Square, Kashgar, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Not less popular than Great Mosque of Xian, Id Kah Mosque offers different characteristic style of building. It was built in 1442 and has become the center of Islamic activity for over five-hundred years.
Id Kah Mosque has 140 meters long from south to north and 120 meters from east to west. It covers an area of 16,800 square meters and consists of the Hall of Prayer, the Doctrine-Teaching Hall, the gate tower and a pond. Every day thousands of worshippers come here to pray. During the religious ceremonies or important events, all the Muslims around the area will come to this sacred place to pray and celebrate.

Beside Xian and Kashgar that have its own famous mosque, now the turn has come to Beijing. At the capital, Niujie Mosque is located in Xuanwu District, in the largest community of the Hui nationality (Muslim). It also becomes historical site under state protection with its long history, grand scale and rich decorations. From the outside, the architecture Niujie Mosque shows traditional Chinese influence and inside has blend of Islamic Calligraphy and Chinese design.
Niujie Mosque was first built in 996 during the Liao Dynasty and now become one of the major mosques in north China. The main buildings include the Wangyuelou (Viewing the Moon Tower), Libaidian (Prayer Hall), Bangkelou (the Minaret, or the Calling Tower), Shanqingtang (Hall of Celebrating Goodness), archway and the screen wall. To enter the mosque, visitors should wear some proper clothes. You are not allowed enter the mosque if you wear shorts or a skirt, same as the other mosque regulation.
