May05

At the mention of Terracotta Army, the amazing bronze chariots and horses are not to be missed while visiting the museum. So what is so awesome about the bronze chariot and horse that enchants millions of people?

Terracotta Warriors

What Made the Chariot and Horse So Special
As we all know the bronze chariots and horses unearthed are a great discovery, together with the amazing Terracotta Army. But what made them so special? The reason lies in the following: though buried underground for over two thousand years, the components of bronze chariots and horses are still flexible – what a shocker! Moreover the bronze chariots and horses are made with techniques beyond our imagination. The first feature that made the bronze chariots and horses so special would be the neck ring which was made of real gold and silver – making them priceless and valuable. The most important is, gold and silver have different melting point, under standard atmospheric pressure, the gold is 1337.43 ℃ and 960.8 ℃ for silver. Two thousand years ago the workman spliced them together, leaving almost no trace of joint mark. Some people later tried to reproduce, but the use of advanced equipment had failed to achieve the original glory.

More Features of the Chariot and Horse
The tassels of the bronze horse are very impressive and marvelous to the eyes. These hair-thin tassels are all made of copper wires. Some experts had used a magnifying glass to observe them, found no traces of forged mark on the surface. What made the tassels so special is because of the fact that they could still swing in the wind. The highlight of the bronze chariots and horses would be the bronze canopy. The bronze canopy is said to face east in the morning and west in the afternoon. In fact it is semiautomatic and multipurpose combined equipment, like a Transformer, hardly seen anywhere else in the world. While removing the bronze canopy from the chariot and opening the link, you can remove the bronze canopy by removing the end which is a movable louver, and when extending the bolt, the canopy can be inserted into the soil. The umbrella cover and the umbrella body used a movable shaft connection technology, the umbrella cover can be separately unscrewed and split into spear and shield.

All in all, the bronze chariot and horse are worth exploring while visiting the Museum of Terracotta Army.
