Itinerary of Beijing Hutong Private Half Day Tour (Rickshaw)

1. Pick you up from your hotel on departure time and then drive about 30 minutes to get to the 300-year old courtyard in the Shichahai area.
2. Begin one hour visit inside the courtyard. The English speaking tour guide will explain the history, the layout, the Fengshui, and the traditional Chinese culture involved in the countyard. So during short trip, you will learn more about the old courtyard and Chinese culture.
3. After that, take 20-minute rickshaw tour through the zigzag and narrow alleys. Two people share one rickshaw. Drop off at the the Silver Ingot Bridge (Yinding Bridge) and enjoy the harmonious scenery around.
4. From 10:30am to 11:00am, you are arrangeed to walk along a quaint 800-year-old hutong located directly north of Yinding Bridge - Yandai Xiejie (Tobacco Pipe Lean Street), which used to be well-known for sellers of long-stemmed pipes.
5. From 11:00am to 11:40am, tour on the 67-meter high and two-story Drum Tower. It is dating from 1420 is sure to bring you back to the old Beijing by seeing the big drum tower and having bird's eye view of the surrounding communities of hutongs and countyards.
6. After the half day tour, transfer you back to your hotel.
Optional add-on:
If you are interested in Chinese tea culture, after the day tour, we will transfer you to a nice tea market in the center of Beijing. There you see a tea performance and learn how to conduct your own kungfu tea ritual. After a simple tea ceremony, you are free on your own in choosing your favorite tea, teapots and teacups.

Interesting trip to Hutong! We got different views of Beijing with joined this trip. With my family, we explored around the alleys around the complex with interesting rickshaw ride. My kids and wife were so enjoyed the whole trip. It was very relaxing and not too rushed. Really recommended trip for know the old residence buildings of Beijing.

A small private trip only with family was amazing! Having only a small group made the experience all the more enjoyable, flexible and comfortable. More than that, we got a nice guide! She was informative, friendly and interesting! I would definitely recommend this tour agency and attraction (Hutong) to anyone who comes to the capital.

In limited time, we did explore the old courtyard of China where located around local Beijing people residence. The complex was very ancient and impressive. Not only that, we also know local Beijing people life style and habits. We did experience the rickshaw ride explore Hutong. Thank you for a great time! Will back to Beijing again for another trip!
