Itinerary of China Rail Tour - 5 Days Train Tour from Xian to Dunhuang

Day 1: Xian - Dunhuang
Pick you up from your hotel in Xian, and transfer you to Xian Train Station or Xian Airport to take the overnight train for Dunhuang.

Day 2: Dunhuang (L, D)
1. Upon arrival in Dunhuang in the morning, our tour guide will meet you at the train station and transfer you to your hotel in Dunhuang.
2. After lunch, pick you up at the hotel and drive you to visit the representative attraction - Mogao Grottoes. Then visit Dunhuang Museum.
- Mogao Grottoes: A shrine of Buddhist art treasures is one of the three famous ancient sculptural sites of China.
3. After the visit of the museum, back to your hotel and free for rest of the day.

Day 3: Dunhuang (B, L)
1. Pick you up from your hotel in Dunhuang, and start the day tour. You will experience a short camel-riding along the Echoing-Sand Dune to reach the Crescent Lake.
- Echoing-Sand Mountain: Located 5 km south of Dunhuang City, seen from afar, the desert is just like a golden dragon winding its way over the horizon.
- Crescent Lake: A natural wonder shape like a crescent in the desert, enjoying the title of "The Wonders of the Gobi Desert".
2. After the tour, transfer back to your hotel.

Day 4: Dunhuang - Xian (B)
Pick you up from your hotel in Dunhuang, and transfer you to Dunhuang Train Station and take the overnight train for Xian.

Day 5: Arrival in Xian
Upon arrival in Xian in the morning and then transfer you to your hotel in Xian or design on your own, tour end!

First time exploring Dunhuang, I was completely impressed by the giant Maogao Grottoes. Deep Buddhist tastes and delicate building architecture lured our foot and feeling. I enjoyed the unique tranquility and natural formation. Local people are dressing special clothes compared to the plain. Very perfect itineraries!

Interesting place with lots of ancient relics and large area of dry desert! It was our first time to visit desert and the experience was so fun and memorable. Thanks to our tour guide and staffs for organized the tour for us. It was a very positive experience. We did also visit a beautiful spring which located in the center of desert. Like a fresh source in the middle of dry desert.

Train tour was different and way cheaper than flight tour! Dunhuang was amazing! It is not a modern city but there we did see many authentic impressive historical relics. Mogao Grottoes impressed us, it is a big cave Buddhist art treasure with lots of sacred temples surround the area. That was an excellent trip overall!
