Itinerary of China Tours 2016 - 19 Days China Highlights Tour

• Day 1: Arrive in Beijing
  When you arrive in Beijing, you will meet the tour guide and drive and transfer you to your hotel in Beijing.

 
• 

  Day 2: Beijing (B, L)
  1. Pick you up from the hotel in Beijing, and visit Temple of Heaven, the Mutianyu Great Wall (with round way cable car), Shahe Cloisonne Factory.
  - Temple of Heaven: The perimeter of the Temple of Heaven is 6,369 meters with 6 meters high. The temple was the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshipped heaven and prayed for good harvests.
  - Mutianyu Great Wall: Mutianyu section of the Great Wall was originally built during the Northern Qi Dynasty in the mid-sixth century, used to serve as the northern barrier defending the capital and the imperial tombs during the Ming Dynasty.
  2. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Beijing.

  Day 3: Beijing (B, L)
  1. Pick you up from the hotel in Beijing, and visit Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Treasure Houses, Hutong Tour in Xicheng District, Lizexiang Pearl Store.
  - Tiananmen Square: the largest public square in the world. It is 880 meters from north to south, and 500 meters from east to west, with a total area of 440,000 square meters and can hold one million people.
  - Forbidden City: the largest ancient imperial palaces where 24 emperors, 14 of the Ming and 10 of the Qing, ruled the country from here over a span of nearly 500 years.
  - Hutong: Small streets in Beijing called hutong. Hutong was the memory of the traditional life and culture in Beijing.
  2. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Beijing.

  Day 4: Beijing - Xian (B, L)
  1. Pick you up from the hotel in Beijing,, and transfer to visit Summer Palace.
  - Summer Palace: the largest and best preserved imperial garden of the Qing Dynasty extant in Beijing, as well as a famous classical imperial garden.
  2. After lunch transfer to the airport. When you arrival at Xian, pick up and transfer to your hotel.

  Day 5: Xian (B, L)
  1. Pick you up from the hotel in Xian, and transfer to visit Shaanxi History Museum, Ancient City Wall, Muslim Street, Great Mosque, Xian Imperial Fine Arts center.
  - The Provincial Museum: Opened in 1991, the museum is a giant architectural in the Tang-dynasty style and it successfully symbolizes the great extent of Shaanxi history and its remarkable culture.
  - Xian Ancient City Wall: the most complete city wall survived in China as well as one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world.
  - Great Mosque: is one of the oldest and best preserved as well as most renowned mosques in the country. It is northwest of the Drum Tower on 30 Huajue Lane.
  2. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Xian.

  Day 6: Xian (B, L)
  1. Pick you up from the hotel and visit the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, Big Wild Goose Pagoda.
  - Terra Cotta Warriors: It is a part of the Qin emperor's tomb complex, the Terra Cotta Warriors is the greatest findings in the archeology world.
  - Big Wild Goose Pagoda: the symbol of the long history of Xian, and a well-preserved ancient building and holy worshipping shrine for Buddhists.
  2. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Xian.

 

• Day 7: Xian - Lhasa (B)
  Pick you up from your hotel in Xian and transfer you to Xian Airport to take a flight to Lhasa. When you arrival at Lhasa, pick up and transfer to the hotel.

  Day 8: Lhasa (B, L)
  1. Pick you up from the hotel and visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street.
  - Potala Palace: A UNESCO endorsed world cultural heritage site. It was where Dalai Lama lived. The palace consists of White Palace and Red Palace, with nearly 10,000 rooms.
  - Jokhang Temple: built in 647 as the earliest wood-masonry structure in Tibet. It is dedicated to a statue of Sakyamni. It has a collection of cultural relics dating back to the Tang, which includes statues of Songtsan Gambo and Princess Wencheng.
  - Barkhor Street: Also called Bajiao Street - an ancient circular street with strong Tibetan flavor. It's a route where pilgrims holding prayer wheel walk clockwise. And now is a famous commercial street.
  2. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Lhasa.

  Day 9: Lhasa (B, L) 
  1. Pick you up from the hotel and visit Sera Monastery, Norbulingka, Drepung Monastery.
  - Sera Monastery: It is dedicated to the Gelugpa Sect, a branch of Tibetan Buddhism and is famous for debates on Buddhist doctrines. Almost 10,000 Buddhist statues are preserved here.
  - Norbulingka Park: The biggest man-made garden in Tibet. It consists of palaces such as Kelsang Potrang, Golden Potrang and Takten Migyur Potrang, with totally 374 rooms.
  - Drepung Monastery: It is considered one of the 'Three Great Monasteries' (the other two are the Ganden Monastery and the Sera Monastery).
  2. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Lhasa.

  Day 10: Lhasa - Shigatse (B, L) 
  1. Pick you up from your hotel in Lhasa, and drive to Shigatse.
  2. Then continue to visit Yomdrok Lake, The Palgor Chorten.
  - Yamdrok Yumtso Lake: One of the three holiest lakes in Tibet, lies at Nhagartse. In the lake are more than 20 islets, where are inhabited by various species of water birds.
  3. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Shigatse.

  Day 11: Shigatse - Lhasa (B, L) 
  1. Pick you up from your hotel in Shigatse and transfer you to visit Tashilunpo Monastery.
  - Tashilunpo Monastery: One of the Six Big Monasteries of Gelugpa (or Yellow Hat Sect) in Tibet.
  2. After this tour, drive you back to Lhasa and send you to your hotel in Lhasa.

 

• Day 12: Lhasa - Chengdu (B) 
  Pick you up from your hotel in Lhasa, and transfer to the airport and take a flight to Chengdu. When you arrival Chengdu, pick up and transfer to the hotel.

  Day 13: Chengdu (B, L) 
  1. Pick you up from your hotel in Chengdu, and transfer to visit Wu Hou Temple, Jinli Old Street, Panda Breeding and Research Center.
  - Wuhou (Martial Marquis) Memorial Temple: it was built by the-king of the Cheng empire in the last years of the western Jin period (AD 265-316), and named after the Three Kingdoms military strategist Zhuge Liang, the Martial Marquis of Shu.
  - Jingli Street: the oldest commercial streets besides Wuhou Memorial Temple, an old street with western style building houses.
  - Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center: was one of the earliest research bases established in the early 1980s by the Government of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
  2. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Chengdu.

  Day 14: Chengdu - Jiuzhaigou (B, L) 
  1. Pick you up from your hotel in Chengdu, and transfer to the airport and take flight to Jiuzhaigou.
  2. Then continue to visit Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area, and then transfer to the hotel.
  - Huanglong Valley: Designated a national park in 1983, Huanglong (Yellow Dragon) Valley is studded with waterfalls and terraced, colored limestone ponds of blue, yellow, white and green.

  Day 15: Jiuzhaigou (B, L) 
  1. Pick you up from your hotel in Jiuzhaigou, and transfer to visit Sight-seeing Public Vehicle in Jiuzhaigou Valley, Shuzheng Valley, Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area, Zechawa Valley.
  - Jiuzhaigou scenic spot: it is dominated by three drainages, Rize and Zechawa streams which flow from south to north, meeting at the centre of the site to form the Shuzheng which drops 1,000m to the north end of the reserve. There it meets the Zharu stream flowing north-west from the eastern boundary to form the Jiuzhaigou river, one of the sources of the Jialing river, part of the Yangtze River system. There are 114 lakes, 47 springs, 17 groups of waterfalls, 11 rapids and 5 tufa shoals within the reserve.
  2. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Jiuzhaigou.

 

• Day 16: Jiuzhaigou - Chengdu (B) 
  Pick you up from your hotel in Jiuzhaigou, and transfer to the airport and take a flight to Chengdu. When you arrival at Chengdu, pick up and transfer to the hotel.

 

• Day 17: Chengdu - Shanghai (B, L) 
  Pick you up from your hotel in Chengdu, and transfer to the airport and take a flight to Shanghai. When you arrival at Shanghai, pick up and transfer to the hotel.

  Day 18: Shanghai (B, L) 
  1. Pick you up from your hotel in Shanghai, and transfer to visit Yuyuan Garden, Yuyuan Market, Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, the Shanghai World Financial Center.
  - Yuyuan Garden: is considered one of the most lavish and finest Chinese gardens in the region.
  - Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall: this is a fascinating insight into Shanghai's future.
  - Shanghai World Financial Center: located in Pudong District, it is now a new landmark of prosperous Shanghai.
  2. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Shanghai.

 

• Day 19: Depart Shanghai (B) 
  Pick you up from your hotel in Shanghai, and transfer to the airport and see off. Tour end!
