Itinerary of China Adventure Tour - 18 Days Tours in China with Tibet & Silk Road Travel

  • Day 1: Arrive in Beijing
    On your arrival at Beijing, our tour guide will pick you up at Beijing Airport and transfer you to the hotel. Free on your own for the rest of the day.

  • Day 2: Beijing (B, L, D)
    Pick you up from the hotel and visit Tiananmen Square as the first destination. Then move on to visit famous Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven. After that, we will drive you to a famous restaurant to enjoy a Beijing Duck Dinner. After dinner, drive you to the Liyuan Theater to see an interesting Peking Opera performance. After a day tour, transfer back to your hotel.
    - Tiananmen Square: the largest public square in the world. With a total area of 440,000 square meters and can hold one million people.
    - Forbidden City: the largest ancient imperial palaces where 24 emperors, 14 of the Ming and 10 of the Qing, ruled the country from here over a span of nearly 500 years.
    - Temple of Heaven: The temple was the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshipped heaven and prayed for good harvests.

  • Day 3: Beijing (B, L)
    Tour guide will pick you up from your hotel on decided time and lead you to visit the famous Badaling Great Wall. After explore the Wall, you will have a Chinese lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, visit the Sacred Way, the Ming Tomb, the Bird's Nest (Olympic National Stadium). You will see the shape of Bird Nest Stadium from a distance. After one day trip, transfer you back to the hotel.
    - Badaling Great Wall: With an elevation of 600 meters it is the most famous and best-preserved section of the Great Wall.
    - Ming Tombs: also called Shisanling (literally, Thirteen Tombs), it is the largest clusters of imperial cemeteries in China. They are mausoleums of thirteen emperors of the Ming Dynasty.
    - Sacred Road: Which means the road leading to heaven is lined with 18 pairs of stone human figures and animals, they are important decorations of the mausoleum.

  • Day 4: Beijing - Urumqi (B, L)
    Pick you up from your hotel on decided time and drive you to visit Summer Palace. After explore stunning royal garden, Summer Palace, transfer you to the airport to take a flight to the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Urumqi. After arrive in Urumqi, you will meet our guide and be transferred to the hotel.
    - Summer Palace: the largest and best preserved imperial garden of the Qing Dynasty extant in Beijing, as well as a famous classical imperial garden.

  • Day 5: Urumqi - Turpan (B)
    In the morning, pick you up at the hotel in Urumqi and transfer you to Turpan. After your arrival, we will send you to the hotel for a short rest. Begin the tour, first, you will visit the Jiaohe Ruins.Then visit Karez Well and the Sugong Pagoda which also best places that you should not miss.
    - Jiaohe Ruins: Jiaohe means twisting rivers in Chinese, it is surrounded by sheer cliffs and it is the best preserved town ruin in China.
    - Karez Well: is a kind of underground water works invented and built by laboring people of various ethnic groups in China to adapt to the natural environment in dry region.
    - Sugong Pagoda: is the largest extant old tower in Xinjiang; it is the only Islamic tower among the hundred famous towers in China.

  • Day 6: Turpan - Dunhuang (B)
    On departure time, pick you up from your hotel and begin the tour. First, you will visit the Gaochang Ruins and after that, move to the next destinations, the Baizikeli Thousand Buddha Cave and the Flaming Hill. After exploring many famous attractions in Turpan, transfer you to the railway station to take an overnight soft sleeper train to Dunhuang.
    - Gaochang Ruins: used to be a key point along the Silk Road, Gaochang ancient city was now one of the best-preserved ruins of the ancient cities in China.
    - Baizikeli Thousand Buddha Cave: stand high on the cliffs of west Mutou Valley, 45 km (28miles) east of Turpan. The Caves had been the Buddhist center of Gaochang.
    - Flaming Hill: is a small mountain running across the basin. the mountain is a combination of red sand and rocks, looking at the mountain from the distance in the sunsight, the heat waves and the floating clouds will make the mountain appear as though it is on fire.

  • Day 7: Dunhuang
    The guide will pick you up at the railway station on time and transfer you to the hotel. After a short rest, take you to visit Echoing Sand Dune and Crescent Spring. There, you will experience a short camel-ride along the journey. Prepare your own breakfast this day.
    - Echoing-Sand Dune: Echoing-Sand Dune got its name from if one person was slide down its slopes, he could hear the echoes to the sound of sand.
    - Crescent Spring: The crescent spring is about 6 kilometers (3.73 miles) south of Dunhuang city, and surrounded by the Echoing-Sand Mountain, Crescent Spring can be called a natural wonder in the Gobi Desert.
    - Mogao Grottoes: Mogao Caves are the best known of the Chinese Buddhist grottoes and, along with Longmen Grottoes and Yungang Grottoes, are one of the three famous ancient sculptural sites of China.

  • Day 8: Dunhuang - Xian (B, L)
    In the morning, we will transfer you to the airport to take a flight to Xian. When you arrive, tour guide will pick you up at the airport and lead you to visit the Ancient City Wall. See the ancient architecture of the Wall then you will have a Chinese lunch. After enjoying the a la carte lunch at a local restaurant, you will check in at the hotel.
    - Ancient City Wall: the most complete city wall survived in China as well as one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world.

  • Day 9: Xian (B, L)
    Pick you up from your hotel after breakfast, take you to visit the Terra Cotta Warriors. You will see an amazing battle formation of hundreds army sculpture inside the complex, the impressive one. Then have lunch at a well-known Cantonese cuisine restaurant. In the afternoon, visit another famous historical site in Xian include Big Wild Goose Pagoda and City Wall. After exploring the city, in this evening, see a memorable and fabulous Tang Dynasty Show. After a full Xian day tour, transfer you back to your hotel.
    - Terra Cotta Warriors: It is a part of the Qin emperor's tomb complex, the Terra Cotta Warriors is the greatest findings in the archeology world.
    - Big Wild Goose Pagoda: the symbol of the long history of Xi'an, and a well-preserved ancient building and holy worshipping shrine for Buddhists.
    - Tang Dynasty Show: a wonderful performance of the ancient music and dance, is a must when you visit Xian.

  • Day 10: Xian - Lhasa (B)
    Tour guide will pick you up from your hotel on decided time and lead you to visit the Great Mosque. Then have a short visit to a local family in the morning. After that, transfer you to the airport to take a flight to Lhasa. On your arrival, pick you up from the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Free time for the rest of the day.
    - Great Mosque: is one of the oldest and best preserved as well as most renowned mosques in the country. It is northwest of the Drum Tower on 30 Huajue Lane.

  • Day 11: Lhasa (B)
    First travel day in Lhasa, pick you up from your hotel, first, you will visit the magnificent Potala Palace then the Sera Monastery, Norbulingka Park and a local Tibetan family. After explore those famous Lhasa attractions, transfer you back to the hotel.
    - Potala Palace: A UNESCO endorsed world cultural heritage site. It was where Dalai Lama lived. The palace consists of White Palace and Red Palace, with nearly 10,000 rooms.
    - Sera Monastery: It is dedicated to the Gelugpa Sect, a branch of Tibetan Buddhism and is famous for debates on Buddhist doctrines. Almost 10,000 Buddhist statues are preserved here.
    - Norbulingka Park: The biggest man-made garden in Tibet. It consists of palaces such as Kelsang Potrang, Golden Potrang and Takten Migyur Potrang, with totally 374 rooms.

  • Day 12: Lhasa (B)
    Pick you up from your hotel and lead you to visit the Jokhang Temple as the first destination. Then, move on to other famous attractions including Barkhor Street, the Tibet Museum, the Tibetan Traditional Medicine Hospital and the Carpet Factory. After the tour, transfer you back to the hotel.
    - Jokhang Temple: built in 647 as the earliest wood-masonry structure in Tibet. It is dedicated to a statue of Sakyamni. It has a collection of cultural relics dating back to the Tang, which includes statues of Songtsan Gambo and Princess Wencheng.
    - Barkhor Street: Also called Bajiao Street - an ancient circular street with strong Tibetan flavor. It is a route where pilgrims holding prayer wheel walk clockwise. And now a famous commercial street.

  • Day 13: Lhasa - Gyangtse (B)
    Pick you up at the hotel on decided time and drive you to Gyangtse. First, you will have a short stop off at the Yamdrok Yumtso Lake.Then you will have a chance to visit the Palkhor Monastery and the Gyangtse Old Street. After the tour, transfer you back to the hotel.
    - Yamdrok Yumtso Lake: Lies within the boundary of Nankartse county, on the north bank of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, Lhokha Prefecture, surrounded by mountains.
    - Palkhor Monastery: Pelkhor Choede (Kumbum), also named Palcho Monastery, is very different from other monasteries. Built as a Tibetan monastery, its structural style is very unique, reputed as the lord of Tibetan stupas.

  • Day 14: Gyangtse - Shigatse (B)
    Pick you up from your hotel and drive you to first destination, the Tashilunpo Monastery. After that, move on to visit New Palace of Panchen.
    - Tashilunpo Monastery: One of the Six Big Monasteries of Gelugpa (or Yellow Hat Sect) in Tibet.

  • Day 15: Shigatse - Lhasa (B)
    Pick you up from the hotel on decided time and drive you back to Lhasa. After your arrival, transfer you to the hotel.

  • Day 16: Lhasa - Shanghai (B, L)
    Pick you up from your hotel, first you will have a short visit to a Tibetan family residence. Then our tour guide will transfer you to the airport and you will take a flight to Shanghai. After your arrival at Shanghai, you will meet with our guide and be transferred to the hotel.

  • Day 17: Shanghai (B, L, D)
    Pick you up from your hotel and visit famous attractions in Shanghai including Shanghai Museum and Yuyuan Garden, the Bund area. There, you will take a cruise tour on the Huangpu River which will start at 14:00pm, reach the Wusongkou pier and then get back to the Bund at 17:00pm. After that, you will have an a la carte farewell dinner at Central Hotel which has known as the best place to serve Shanghai Cuisine. After dinner, transfer you to the Shanghai Centre Theater to enjoy Portman Acrobatic Show. After the whole day tour, send you back to the hotel.
    - Shanghai Museum: ranked as the best museum of China.
    - Yuyuan Garden: is considered one of the most lavish and finest Chinese gardens in the region.
    - The Bund: the picturesque bund with tall building of various tower over the river, looking as a museum of modern world architecture.
    - Nanjing Road: the most famous thoroughfare for shopping and entertainment in Shanghai.
    - Huangpu River: one of the most important rivers in Shanghai, like an undulating dragon from Wusong to the East Sea.

  • Day 18: Departure from Shanghai (B)
    Prepare to leave Shanghai. Tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the airport. See you off and the tour end.

    The entire experience with the many stops to the ancient cities in Silk route and Tibet was awesome. Since I had not been in China before it was the trip of a lifetime and you/your company provided me with the greatest experience ever! If you like your holiday experience to be a bit different than this tour is suitable for you.

    This 18 days tour in China covers a lot! Really a lot! We did see a lot of interesting and amazing places that we never see it before the tour. Crescent Spring and Echoing-Sand Dune were breathtaking. Never see a desert before so that was my very first time. The tour like an adventure! After all, I really like it! Thank you for your good organized for the trip!
