Itinerary of China Tours 2016 - 10 Days World Heritage & Tibet Train Tour

• Day 1: Arriving in Beijing
  When you arrive at Beijing Airport, you will meet our guide and then transfer you to downtown Beijing for the hotel registration. Free for the rest of the day.

 
• 

  Day 2: Beijing (B, L)
  1. Pick you up from your hotel in Beijing, and transfer you to visit Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City in the morning.
  - Tiananmen Square: The largest public square in the world with a total area of 440,000 square meters.
  - Forbidden City: The best preserved imperial palace in China and the largest ancient palatial structure in the world.
  2. After a typical lunch, move on to visit another symbol of historical sites in Beijing, the Temple of Heaven.
  - Temple of Heaven: The largest existing complex of ancient sacrificial buildings in China.
  3. Enjoy and relax yourself in the excellent Kungfu Night Show in the evening. Then you will be transferred to the hotel in Beijing.

  Day 3: Beijing (B, L)
  1. Pick you up from your hotel in Beijing, and drive to the famous Badaling Great Wall, about one and a half hour driving. Enjoy 2-3 hours hiking on the Great Wall. Cable car is available and it is optional.
  - Badaling Great Wall: The most famous and best-preserved section of the Great Wall.
  2. After lunch get back to downtown Beijing and visit the Summer Palace.
  - Summer Palace: The largest and most well-preserved royal park in China, greatly influences Chinese horticulture.
  3. While driving back to the hotel, you will have an outstanding look at the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube.

 

• Day 4: Beijing - Lhasa (B)
  Pick you up from your hotel in Beijing and transfer you to Beijing Airport to take a morning flight to Lhasa. On arrival, our tour guide will meet you at the airport and then transfer you to the downtown hotel directly. Free for the rest of the day.

  Day 5: Lhasa (B, L)
  1. Pick you up from your hotel in Lhasa, and drive to the first destination, Tibet Museum.
  - Tibet Museum: there are a large number of cultural relics show the glorious history and unique culture of the region.
  2. Then move on to the Carpet Factory to learn about the world-famous Tibetan carpet.
  - The Carpet Factory: The highland of Tibet is the actual home of the oriental carpets. By visiting Carpet Factory you will have a general idea how carpets are produced.
  3. After lunch, continue to the Sera Monastery. Today's last destination is Norbulingka.
  - Sera Monastery: It is dedicated to the Gelugpa Sect, a branch of Tibetan Buddhism and is famous for debates on Buddhist doctrines. Almost 10,000 Buddhist statues are preserved here.
  - Norbulingka: The biggest man-made garden in Tibet. It consists of palaces such as Kelsang Potrang, Golden Potrang and Takten Migyur Potrang, with totally 374 rooms.
  4. After the day tour, transfer you back to the hotel.

  Day 6: Lhasa (B, L)
  1. Pick you up from your hotel in Lhasa and enjoy the full day city tour of The Potala Palace, The Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street.
  - Potala Palace: A UNESCO endorsed world cultural heritage site. It was where Dalai Lama lived. The palace consists of White Palace and Red Palace, with nearly 10,000 rooms.
  - Jokhang Temple: built in 647 as the earliest wood-masonry structure in Tibet. It is dedicated to a statue of Sakyamni. It has a collection of cultural relics dating back to the Tang, which includes statues of Songtsan Gambo and Princess Wencheng.
  - Barkhor Street: Also called Bajiao Street - an ancient circular street with strong Tibetan flavor. It's a route where pilgrims holding prayer wheel walk clockwise. And now is a famous commercial street.
  2. After this tour, transfer you back to your hotel in Lhasa.

 

• Day 7: Lhasa - Xian (B)
  Pick you up from your hotel in Lhasa and transfer you to Lhasa Railway Station to take the soft sleeper train to Xian. The train journey will last for about 33 hours.

 

• Day 8: Lhasa - Xian
  The train journey from Lhasa to Xian will pass by Nakchu, Golmud, Xining and Lanzhou. In the evening, on your arrival in Xian, our local tour guide will meet you at the railway station and then transfer you to the hotel in Xian City.

 
• 

  Day 9: Xian (B, L, D)
  1. Pick up from your hotel in Xian, and transfer you to visit the Terra Cotta Warriors. Then have a visit to Terra Cotta replication Factory.
  - Terra Cotta Warriors: It is a part of the Qin emperor's tomb complex, the Terra Cotta Warriors is the greatest findings in the archeology world.
  2. After lunch, transfer you to visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Shaanxi Provincial History Museum.
  - Big Wild Goose Pagoda: the symbol of the long history of Xian, and a well-preserved ancient building and holy worshipping shrine for Buddhists.
  - Provincial History Museum: it is a giant architectural in the Tang-dynasty style and it successfully symbolizes the great extent of Shaanxi history and its remarkable culture.
  3. After dinner enjoy the Tang Dynasty Show. Then transfer you back to the hotel.
  - Tang Dynasty show: a wonderful performance of the ancient music and dance, is a must when you visit Xian.

  Day 10: Departure from Xian (B)
  1. Pick up from your hotel in Xian, and drive you to see the Ancient City Wall which is 600 years old.
  - Ancient City Wall: the most complete city wall survived in China as well as one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world.
  2. Then move on to the Great Mosque.
  - Great Mosque: it is one of the oldest and best preserved as well as most renowned mosques in the country.
  3. After that the tour guide will transfer you to the airport and see off.
