Itinerary of China Rail Tour - 10 Days Beijing Lhasa Xian Train Tour

• Day 1: Arrival at Beijing
  Upon arrival at Beijing, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Beijing. Free for the rest of the day.

 
• 

  Day 2: Beijing (B, L)
  1. Pick up from your hotel, and first visit Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City in the morning.
  - Forbidden City: The best preserved imperial palace in China and the largest ancient palatial structure in the world.
  - Tiananmen Square: The largest public square in the world with a total area of 440,000 square meters.
  2. After a la carte lunch, move on to visit Temple of Heaven. Last, we arrange a Chinese Kung Fu Show at Red Theater.
  - Temple of Heaven: The largest existing complex of ancient sacrificial buildings in China.
  - Chinese Kung Fu Show: is a traditional Chinese martial art with thousands years of history.
  3. After this show, transfer to your hotel in Beijing.

  Day 3: Beijing (B, L)
  1. Pick up from your hotel, and drive to Badaling Great Wall and have a full excursion tour to Badaling Great Wall.
  - Badaling Great Wall: The most famous and best-preserved section of the Great Wall.
  2. After lunch, drive back to Beijing downtown to visit Summer Palace.
  - Summer Palace: The largest and most well-preserved royal park in China, greatly influences Chinese horticulture.
  3. On the way back to your hotel in Beijing, you will see the two outstanding buildings of Beijing Olympic Games, Bird Nest and Water Cube.

 

• Day 4: Beijing - Lhasa (B)
  Pick up from your hotel transfer to airport to take morning flight to Lhasa. Arrival at Lhasa, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Lhasa. It is suggested that you have a rest at the hotel to acclimatize yourself to the high altitude. Neither of bath and vigorous activities is suggested upon arrival on the first day.

  Day 5: Lhasa (B, L)
  1. Pick up from your hotel in Lhasa, and first visit Tibet Museum.
  2. After that, you will pay a visit to the Carpet Factory to learn about the world-famous Tibetan carpet.
  3. After lunch, continue to the Sera Monastery. Last, head to Norbulingka Park.
  - Sera Monastery:  is the representative monastery of the Gelukpa of the Tibetan Buddhism.
  - Norbulingka Park: also known as the Summer Palace in Lhasa, is located in the western suburb of Lhasa.
  4. End of this day, transfer back to your hotel in Lhasa.

  Day 6: Lhasa (B, L)
  1. Pick up from your hotel in Lhasa, and first visit Potala Palace.
  - Potala Palace: A UNESCO endorsed world cultural heritage site. It was where Dalai Lama lived. The palace consists of White Palace and Red Palace, with nearly 10,000 rooms.
  2. After lunch, proceed to Jokhang Temple. From the temple, you can walk to Barkhor Street.
  - Jokhang Temple: built in 647 as the earliest wood-masonry structure in Tibet. It is dedicated to a statue of Sakyamni. It has a collection of cultural relics dating back to the Tang, which includes statues of Songtsan Gambo and Princess Wencheng.
  - Barkhor Street: Also called Bajiao Street - an ancient circular street with strong Tibetan flavor. It's a route where pilgrims holding prayer wheel walk clockwise. And now is a famous commercial street.
  3. Last, move on to Tibetan Traditional Medicine Hospital.
  4. End of this day, transfer back to your hotel in Lhasa.

 

• Day 7: Lhasa - Xian (B)
  Pick up from your hotel in Lhasa and transfer to train station to take soft sleeper train to Xian. The train journey will take you about 33 hours, you will overnight in train.

 

• Day 8: Arrival at Xian
  Upon arrival at Xian in the evening, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Xian.

  Day 9: Xian (B, L, D)
  1. Pick up from your hotel in Xian, and first visit Terracotta Army.
  - Terracotta Army: is only a part of the Qin emperor's tomb complex.
  2. After a la carte lunch, move on to Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Shaanxi Provincial History Museum. For dinner, you will enjoy the local specialty Dumpling Dinner and the Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show at Shaanxi Opera Theatre.
  - Big Wild Goose Pagoda: the symbol of the long history of Xian, and a well-preserved ancient building and holy worshipping shrine for Buddhists.
  - Shaanxi Provincial History Museum: is a giant architectural in the Tang-dynasty style and it successfully symbolizes the great extent of Shaanxi history and its remarkable culture.
  - Tang Dynasty Show: a wonderful performance of the ancient music and dance, is a must when you visit Xian.
  3. After that, transfer to your hotel in Xian.

  Day 10: Deaprture from Xian (B, L)
  1. Pick up from your hotel in Xian, and first visit Xian City Wall.
  - Xian City Wall: is the most complete city wall survived in China as well as one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world.
  2. Later, visit to a local family to know about the local people's life and a la carte lunch will be arranged in the home, to taste the authentic home cooked Chinese dishes. Arranged Chinese food cooking class in the family visit welcomes you to participate.
  3. After lunch, head to Great Mosque. End of this tour, transfer you to airport and see off.
  - Great Mosque: was that Islam were introduced into Northwest China by Arab merchants and travelers from Persia and Afghanistan during the mid-7th century.
